1、使用手扳葫芦时，起重量不能超过允许荷载，要按照标记的起重量使用，不许超载使用。

使用手扳葫芦时，不能任意的加长手柄，因手扳葫芦的起重量是有限的，两手扳力也有一定的大小，加长手扳会造成手扳葫芦的超载使用，致使部件损坏。

2、严禁用人力以外的其他动力操作，在使用前应确认机件完好无损，传动部分及起重链条润滑良好，空转情况正常。

3、由于手扳葫芦的工作原理是利用夹钳交替夹紧钢丝绳的，所以要 求使用钢芯的钢丝绳而不能用麻芯钢丝绳，因麻芯绳柔软而富有弹性，在夹钳夹紧后有易松动的现象，是不安全的。

4、手扳葫芦使用前要作全面的检查与测验，使用后要维护保养。

5、操作时如发现手扳力大于正常扳力时，应立即停止使用，检查重物是否与其他物件牵连，葫芦机件有无损坏，重物是否超出了葫芦的额定载荷。
